PAUL DONALDSON Paul Donaldson, age 78, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2012 in a Opp Alabama hospital. A resident of Opp, Alabama, he was a former resident of Florala. He was born in Kinston, Alabama the son of the late JD Donaldson and Murtie Lee Sansom Donaldson. A graduate of Covington County High School now Florala High School where he was a member of the 1951 undefeated football team and was chosen on the All State Football Team. Paul received a football scholarship from the University of Alabama and played wide receiver where he lettered for 2 years. He was a proud member of the “A” Club and was an avid supporter of the University of Alabama. He was an officer in the US Army and later was employed with Civil Service in New Mexico. Paul loved to cook and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Opp, Alabama. Survivors are his wife, Julia “Judy” Howze Donaldson of Opp, Alabama, son, David Donaldson of Eagle Springs, NC, 2 daughters, Tracy Williams of Littleton, Colorado, Cristy Faye Solomon and husband Andy of Atlanta, Georgia, step-son, Mark Howze of Port St Joe, Florida, sister, Shirley Ann Maddox of Mobile, Alabama, granddaughter, Chloe Donaldson, 3 grandsons, Micah Solomon, Asher Solomon and Chason Solomon, and the mother of his children Rebecca Ann Mitchell Donaldson. Funeral services 2PM Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Evans Funeral Home with Reverend Wayne Sharp officiating. Pallbearers, Bob Hinson, Hugh Hinson ,Joe Evans, Larry Woodham, Hubbart Byrd, Furman Harrison, Billy Vaughan and William Willette.
