Romeo L. “Moe” Alonzi, 76, of Somersworth, died June 13, 2012 at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital following a period of ill health.

He was born July 1, 1935 in Berlin, N.H. the son of Amedeo and Mamie (DiPucchio) Alonzi.

Romeo was the husband of Christina (Landers) Alonzi.

He was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church.

He retired as District Manager from John Hancock Insurance Company. His love for his wife, children and grandchildren was paramount in his life. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren in their sporting events, he enjoyed playing cards, going fishing working in his garden and his woodworking shop. His winters were enjoyed in Beverly Hills, FL.

Members of the family include his wife, of 57 years Christina, His sons and their wives, Michael and Linda of Berwick, Brian and Michelle of Rochester and David and MaryLou of Amesbury, MA also his daughters, Sharon Alonzi of Somersworth and Gail and Dan Fontaine of Rochester. Romeos siblings also survive him, Joseph of West Palm Beach, FL and Juliette Bugeau of Norwood, MA and Catherine Misener of Beaconsfield, Quebec. 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild also survive Romeo along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Ashleigh Krystina Alonzi.

Visitation will be Sunday from 4-8pm at Bernier Funeral Home 49 South St. Somersworth. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11am at St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish in Holy trinity Church, 404 High St. Somersworth with Rev. Michael S. Taylor, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Somersworth.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Somersworth-Berwick Food Pantry or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
