Doris Jean Cooke, of Toledo, passed away on Tuesday, June 05, 2012 in Parkcliffe Alzheimer’s Community at the age of 90. Doris was born in Toledo to Charles and Emma Guentert on August 16, 1921.She was a 1939 graduate of Scott High School, attended the University of Toledo and graduated from The Ohio State University in 1943 with a degree in bacteriology. In 1944, she met and married her husband, Charles C. Cooke. Her family was her greatest interest and she also enjoyed traveling, bridge playing, baking and sewing. She was the organizer and record keeper for the family and extended family. Her family and friends will remember her laugh and sense of humor. A Lutheran all her life, she was a former member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church-downtown and most recently All Saint’s Lutheran Church. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, daughter, Carol Sue and brother, Donald Guentert. Surviving are her daughters, Sandra Hall of Toledo, Sharon Bliss of Fairfield, OH, Sally Cooke of South Bend, IN and Suzanne (Larry) Cook of New Milford, CT; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and brother, Louis Guentert of Charlotte, NC. Visitation will be held at the Foth-Dorfmeyer Mortuary, 3815 Sylvania Ave. (between Monroe St. & Talmadge Rd.) on Friday after 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 12 o’clock noon. Interment Toledo Memorial Park. Memorial contributions are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association, Odyssey Hospice or the charity of the donor’s choice.
