Carthage - Luella M. (Ginger) Gyingyelegan, 82, of 34373 State Route 26, died Friday, June 1, 2012, at her residence where she was under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County.
Luella was born in Detroit, MI, on September 5, 1929, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mabel Hubbard Girard. She was a 1947 graduate of Hartland High School and moved to New York the same year. She married Louis Gyingyelegan on November 24, 1951 at St. Rita’s Church in Deferiet with the Rev. Quinn officiating. Louis died on September 3, 2001. From 1967 until November 1, 1990, she worked as a custodian for the St. Regis Paper Company in Deferiet.
Luella was a member of St. Rita's Church and the Carthage Area Hospital Auxiliary.
She loved to cook and entertain her family.
She is survived by two daughters and their husbands: Patricia M. and Timothy Turpin of Carthage and Anne M. and Robert Fleming of Croghan, two sons and their wives: Richard J. and Sherri Ginger of Black River and Joseph A. and Kris Ginger of Carthage, 5 Grandsons, 2 Step Granddaughters and 2 Great Grandchildren, a brother and his wife: Gerald and Shirley Girard of Hurricane, Utah and nieces and nephews. A brother, Louis Girard is predeceased.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at St. Rita's Church with the Rev. Garvin Demarias officiating. Burial will be in Black River Cemetery. Calling hours at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home will be on Monday from 4-7pm.
