Charles Willis (Willie) Vandiver

Willie Vandiver 88, of Nixa passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2012. He was born July 18, 1923 in Jenks, Oklahoma to Charles Oliver and Gladys (Tayloe) Vandiver. He was united in marriage to Marie Louise (Sis) Medley on June 2, 1947. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, step-father Ahart Lay, brothers Carl Vandiver and Eugene Vandiver, and sister Lois Rook. Survivors include daughters Jeanie Gillham and Jan Hale (Mayo), granddaughter Susan Motes (Woody), grandson Jason Chamberlin (Meredith), great grand children Abby, Calder and Christian Chamberlin and Allison Motes. Willie served his country in World War II in the U.S Coast Guard in the Pacific theater aboard the USS Arthur Middleton. He was a retired mail handler with the US Postal Service. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 PM on Friday, June 1 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Graveside services with military honors will follow at 2 PM in Greenlawn Cemetery with the Reverend Tommy Harper officiating.
