Marion O. Slates

Marion O. Slates, 75, of Palmyra, Mo., died at 7:45 P M Wednesday at his home. Marion was born November 19, 1936 in Palmyra, Missouri to Albert L. and Almyra Noble Slates. Marion married Bonnie J. Morgan November 17, 1961 in Palmyra, Mo.. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, daughters: Mary E. ( Noble) Springer of Tebbets, Mo.; Ellen A. ( Dwayne) Goodwin of Palmyra; Dee Ann ( Matt) Gottman of Palmyra; grandchildren; Dwayne ( Becky) Goodwin, Ronnie ( Carla) Smith, Jamie ( Leslie) Smith, Darin ( Joelle) Goodwin, Bonnie ( Tim) Smith, Amy Smith, Dustin ( AnnaBelle) Lawrence, Beth Saleny, Kyle ( Brandy) Schneider, Matthew Gottman, Caleb ( Kayla) Gottman, and 27 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Leigh Slates Jr., Lesley Noble Slates, and Robert Slates. Marion was a machinist at Gardner Denver, Inc. for 33 years and retired in 1998. He had worked part-time at Little Dog Auto Parts in Palmyra. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A. M. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Palmyra, Father Alex Ekka and Deacon Bob Leake will officiate. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Palmyra, Missouri. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 P. M. Monday at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel. A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 P M Monday at Lewis Brothers. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or James E. Cary Cancer Center . Casket Bearers are Dwayne M. Goodwin, Ronnie Smith, James M. Smith, Darin Goodwin, Dustin Lawrence, Kyle Schneider, Matthew Gottman, and Caleb Gottman. Honorary Bearers are his granddaughters and great grandchildren.
