Doug N. Anderson, 49, of Virginia, IL died Monday, April 30, 2012 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, MO.
He was born March 1, 1963 in Xenia, OH; the son of Robert W. and Rosemary J. Bethel Anderson.
He is survived by a son, Cole Anderson of Virginia; a sister, Audrey Cox (husband, David) of rural Virginia; a brother, Wyatt Anderson (wife, Karen) of Chandlerville; a niece; and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Anderson was a 1981 graduate of Virginia High School. He owned and operated the South Side Tavern in Virginia twice over a 10 year period and later was an engineer for the BNSF Railroad in Beardstown. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Virginia. Doug enjoyed entertaining friends, riding motorcycles, and navigating the Illinois River in his boats. He was a seasoned gardener and accomplished cook.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 am Friday, May 11, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church in Virginia where the family will meet friends from 10:00 am until the time of services. Private committal services will be held later at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia.
