Ringgold, LA – Funeral services for Dorothy Stewart Chandler, 85, will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Rockett Funeral Home Chapel in Ringgold, LA. Interment will follow at Providence Cemetery in Ringgold, LA. Officiating the services will be Bro. Don Woodard. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rockett Funeral Home. Dorothy was born on November 16, 1926 to John L. and Mattie Stewart. She passed away on May 3, 2012 in Minden, LA after a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Grady “Pete” Chandler, Jr., who passed away on April 15, 2012; her sister, Mary Dennie Corley and her husband J.B. Corley; and her brother-in-law, Lloyd Beatty. Left to cherish her memories are her children, Judy Holmes and her husband Bill of Arcadia, LA, Janie Glotzback and her husband Lee of Inverness, FL, Ginger Stahl and her fiance Wayne Cooper of Heflin, LA and Lester Chandler and his wife Ginger of Fryeburg, LA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Melinda Kidd and her husband Scott; and Hunter Chandler; great grandchildren, Lauren Warren and her husband Derek and Cody Kidd and his wife Angie; sister, Vernita Beatty of Heflin, LA; along with a host of other relatives and friends. Dorothy was a member of First Baptist Church in Ringgold, LA and loved spending time in her yard taking care of her flowers and watching birds. Pallbearers will be Stewart Beatty, John Denny Corley, Gene Corley, Joe Corley, Cody Corley, and Scott Kidd. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Newson, Derek Warren, Cody Kidd, and Hunter Chandler. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Scott Phillips, the staff at Minden Medical Center, Tia Bradley, Angie Moore, and her very special neighbors that took care them both for many years.
