Ann Toomey Bugdal

Ann Toomey Bugdal, 58, died peacefully early Monday morning at her home in Mercerville after a valiant 5 year struggle with endometrial cancer.

Ann was raised in Lawrence Township and was a lifelong resident of Mercer County. She graduated from Notre Dame High School and Rider College after which she worked as an executive secretary at Educational Testing Service for 14 years. She then joined her husband’s financial advisory business where she managed the office until a progression of her cancer forced her to retire reluctantly.

In addition to her working career, Ann played guitar in the folk music groups of the churches that she attended. She also was a full-time mother that was especially engaged in the scouting activities of her son and daughter. Ann organized the Thanksgiving food drives of the Adoptive Parents Organization. She loved gardening and had a talent for capturing nature through her photography.

Ann was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ruth Toomey as well as the mother of the late Sarah Ann and J. Christopher. She is survived by her husband Donald, her children Andrew and Colleen, her sister Alice Bull and her husband Richard of East Stroudsburg PA, her brother-in-law Robert Bugdal and his wife Ann of Lawrenceville, her sister-in- law Marianne Newell of Morrisville, and her many friends, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 a.m. at The Church of Saint Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hamilton.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday from 5 to 9 pm at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. There will be no calling hours at the funeral home Saturday morning.

The family requests that contributions in Ann’s memory be made to Boy Scouts of America Central Jersey Council, 2245 Highway # 130, Suite 106, Dayton, NJ 08810-2420 www.cnjcscouting.org or to Girl Scouts of Central & Southern New Jersey, 40 Brace Road, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034 www.gscsnj.org or Notre Dame High School, c/o Development Office, 601 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648
