Rita May (Brosnihan) Bajorin, formerly of 27 Bellingham Road in Worcester, died Monday, April 30, 2012 in Greenwich, CT after a prolonged illness.
She was predeceased by her husband Bernard S. Bajorin in 1970, a son, Bernard Bajorin and a daughter Coleen A. Maloney.
Rita is survived by a daughter, Joy C. Staples of Antioch, TN; a son Dean F. Bajorin and his wife Mireille, of Scarsdale, NY; son-in-law, Terence Maloney of Sutton and 8 grandchildren. She also leaves a sister, Margaret “Peg” Simmons and her husband Alfred “Fred”, of Shrewsbury, a brother John Brosnihan of Pepperell a sister-in-law, Dorothy Brosnihan of Leicester and dear cousin Mary Ryan and her husband Maurice of Worcester. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Francis and Timothy Brosnihan.
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Timothy and Margaret (Donoghue) Brosnihan, graduated from St Peter’s High School, received a Licensed Practical Nursing degree from Worcester City Hospital, and was a nurse at both Worcester City and Fairlawn Hospitals. She eventually joined the underwriting department at State Mutual of America from which she retired in 1989. Her passions in life were reading, crocheting, and travel, with post-retirement trips throughout the United States, Canada and Europe with her “traveling buddies”, Mabel, Carl and Leona.
The funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, May 4 at St. Joan of Arc Church, 570 Lincoln Street, Worcester. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. There are no visiting hours.
