Christine Cahoon Davenport, 68, of 1209 Virginia Road, died Sunday, April 29, 2012 in her home. Mrs. Davenport was born in Hyde County and was the daughter of the late Nathan and Laura Spruill Cahoon. A retired LPN, she worked for over 25 years at Chowan Hospital in Edenton and for 10 years at Brian Center Health & Rehabilitation in Windsor. Later, she and her husband opened Na Na and Pop Pop’s Antiques and Collectibles next to their home. She was a member of Chappell Hill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sisters Nellie, Lena, and Nina, and by a brother, Eugene. Surviving are her husband of 44 years, R.B. Davenport; a daughter, Angela Davenport Tompkins and husband Christopher of New Bern; two sons, Robbie Davenport of Elizabeth City and Ricky Davenport of Hertford; a sister, Mary Hellinger of Charlotte; a brother, James Cahoon of Richmond, VA; seven grandchildren, Meredith, Courtney, Chandler, Sydney, Waylon, Nick, and Katrina; and a great-granddaughter due on May 29th that will be named Ashlyn. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery.
