Roger J. Jarvais, age 78 years, of Bear Creek, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2012 at his home surrounded by family.
Roger Joseph Jarvais was born on March 21, 1934 in Maple Creek, Outagamie County, to Willard and Edith (Young) Jarvais. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps and served during the Korean War from 1954 to 1957. Roger was united in marriage on July 21, 1956 to Glenda L. Thompson in Yuma, AZ. The couple resided in various cities in California, but he spent the better part of his life in Bear Creek. Roger was a man of many hats; he was a husband, father, grandfather and brother. He served as a Marine, fireman, usher, and worked as a plumber, painter, cook, truck driver, and bar owner. Throughout the years, Roger was a good friend, advisor, and helper to many. He is a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Bear Creek, and he always relied on his faith to give him strength.
Survivors include five children; Becky (Pete) Kunnanz of Bear Creek, Cindy (Denny Christian) Jarvais of Stephensville, Ted (Tamela) Jarvais of Annapolis, MD, Duane (Moni) Jarvais of Bear Creek, and Jody (Kristi) Jarvais of Centralia, IL. There are 14 grandchildren; Valerie, George & Tony Fields, Jamie Bernard, Heather Guyette, Wendy Olson, Holly Moderson, Stephanie, Elizabeth, D. Louis Jarvais, Jennifer Willis, Julie Conklin, Richelle Smith, and Anthony Pinchuk. He is further survived by 12 great grandchildren, a sister, Joan (Keith) Olmsted of Bear Creek, and three sisters-in-law; Kathy Jarvis of Bear Creek, Vicki (Paul) Van Donselaar of Brea, CA, and Nita (John) Fuchs of Ahwanhee, CA, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Glenda - Aug. 12, 2006, a sister, June (Raymond) Hoier, a brother, Harold Jarvis, a niece, Kathy Hoier, a nephew, Mark Olmsted, and his brother-in-law, Tony Thompson.
The family wishes to thank the nurses with Affinity Hospice for their wonderful care provided. Also a special thank you to Carolyn Suprise for being dad's friend.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 12th at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, Bear Creek. Fr. John "Jack" Mullarkey will officiate and burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by members of the VFW Post #2663, Bear Creek, American Legion Post #63, Clintonville, and VFW Post #664, Clintonville. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home and on Thursday from 9:30 AM until time of mass at the church. The Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville, is assisting the family.
