Deacon Samuel Burton Rankin, Sr., age 88, died, Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Golden Living Center, Charlotte, NC. He was born on May 16, 1923 in Iredell County to the late Joseph Samuel and Odessa Cowan Rankin.

Deacon Ranking was educated in the public schools of Iredell County. He retired from Taylor Clay Products.

A faithful and dedicated member of New Smith Chapel Pentecostal Church, Deacon Rankin served with the Deacon's Ministry and was church treasurer.

In addition to his parents, two sons, Joseph Rankin and Lawrence Rankin preceded him in death.

Those who shall forever cherish his memory are his wife; Pearlee Woods Rankin of the home; sons, Samuel Rankin, Jr., Johnny Rankin (Gloria) and Troy Rankin (Brenda) all of Salisbury, NC; a daughter, Gladys Baptiste (Leroy), Bronx, NY; a sister, Pearline White, Ct.; twenty-two grandchldren; and a host of great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation-1:00-2:00. Funeral-2:00 at New Smith Chapel Pentecostal Church, Salisbury, NC. Bishop David Chambers, Pastor, officating.

Burial: Church Cemetery.
