Mary E. “Betty” BENNETT Born in Seattle on July 13, 1919. She died March 28, 2012, also in Seattle. Betty grew up on Capitol Hill in St. Joseph’s parish and attended school at Holy Names Academy for 12 years. Following graduation in 1937 she attended Seattle Secretarial School and later passed a Civil Service Exam. Following that she worked for the Government in both Washington DC and Seattle for many years. Early in World War II Betty met a young pilot named Harry Bennett. It took 10 years of much flying and absence before the two of them settled down and married in 1951. Betty was very athletic, loving to ski, bike, swim, play golf and tennis. They both spent many weekends hiking, fishing and hunting for grouse in the Monte Cristo and Granite Falls areas. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Harry (2004), brothers Frank (2001) and Jack (2011). She is survived by nieces, Rita Jo Brodersen and Bascia Rose and several cousins. Rosary will be said on Sunday, April 1st, at 3:45pm and the Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 2nd, at 11:00am followed by a reception in the East Dining Room, BOTH in the Chapel at Providence Mt St Vincent. Interment will be at Tahoma National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Holy Names Academy, 728 21st Ave. E., Seattle WA 98112
