BERTHA COMMUNITY. . .Euna Mills Barefield Baxley, a resident of the Bertha Community of Dale County, died late Tuesday morning, April 3, 2012, in a Dothan hospital. She was 85.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, April 5, 2012, in the New Hope Baptist Church with Reverend Dan Sheppard, Reverend Shane Traylor and Reverend W. M. Todd officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Thursday in the church sanctuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Billy R. Grantham, 826 County Road 7, Skipperville, AL 36374.

Mrs. Baxley was born and reared in Henry County, daughter of the late Alonza Wood Mills and Mollie Brown Mills. She attended Newville High School and lived in the Bertha Community all her adult lifetime. Mrs. Baxley was retired from WestPoint Stevens in Abbeville after thirty years employment. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Waldon Jerald Barefield, a step-son, Charles Stephen Baxley, a grandson-in-law, Joe Enfinger, four sisters, Josie Johnson, Ollie Dean Bodiford, Juanita Brannon and Ruby Jewel Mills and four brothers, Chester Mills, Howard Mills, A. W. (Dub) Mills and Earl Mills.

Surviving relatives include her husband, Charles Quay Baxley, Bertha Community; two sons, Roger Barefield and wife, Jean, Bertha Community; and Benny Paul Baxley, Sacramento, CA; five grandchildren, Shannon Enfinger, Stephanie McKnight and husband, Kevin, Lori Cooper and husband, Dan, Benny Paul Baxley, Jr. and wife, Jessica, Tara Jeno and husband, Zeb; nine great-grandchildren, Jonathon Whitehead, Jonah Enfinger, Jamison Wilson, Madie Cooper, Autumn Baxley ,Taylor Jeno, Emma Baxley, Chloe Cooper and Lauren McKnight, several nieces and nephews.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Jonathon Whitehead, Tim Brannon, Jay Jones, Jody Singleton, Jackie Blankenship and Sammy Jones.
