John L. Hickey

U.S. Veteran

John Lee Hickey, 90, of Paris, Missouri, passed away at Monroe Manor Nursing Home in Paris, Mo. on Friday, March 23, 2012.

Mr. Hickey was born on March 25, 1921, in Monroe County, Missouri, the son of Sidney and Ruby Vanlandingham Hickey. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII from April, 1942 to Dec. 1945. He was married to Charlotte Grace Dry on June 12, 1949, at Granville, Missouri. She predeceased him on Feb. 3, 2004. John was a rural mail carrier for the US Postal Department at the Paris post office. He was a member of the First Christian Church at Paris, the Mark Twain Country Club and the American Legion Post #221. He and his wife vacationed on Turtle Island near Sarasota, Florida in the winter months for about 12 years.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m.on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at the Agnew Funeral Home in Paris with Reverend Donna Scott officiating. Visitation will be from 11 to 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the Agnew Funeral Home. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery at Paris.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church at Paris or the Monroe Manor Nursing Home.
