LEWIE RAYON ADAMS

Lewie Rayon Adams, age 81, passed away Friday, March 23, 2012 at his residence 2130 County Road 89, Florala, Alabama in the Chapel Hill area. He war born September 11, 1930 in Covington County, Alabama, the son of the late Roy Adams and Jewell Pelham Adams. Mr. Adams graduated from Florala High School, Class of 1947. After high school he enlisted in the US Army, where he was stationed at Shape Headquarters in Paris, France. While there he met Ann Johnson, who also served in the US Army. Lewis and Ann were married on September 4, 1952. Several years later they returned to the States with their first who children, Sher and Ralph. After completing 20 years of military service, including 2 tours in Vietnam, Lewie retired in 1969 and returned to Covington County to farm. Their 3rd child Brad joined the family in 1971. Lewie spent time enjoying baseball, hunting and fishing and the Alabama Crimson Tide Football. He was a lifelong Church of Christ member. His greatest love was his family and friends.

He leaves behind his wife, Ann, of 59 years. His children: Sher, Ralph and Brad. His grandchildren: Joshua Lew Jennings, Brandi Jewell Sapp, Hannah Crews, Nicole Riedel and Eric Bergen. His great grandchildren, Madison Jewell Jennings, Joshua Lew Jennings Jr., James Sapp, Hudson Sapp, Dakota Riedel and Ceyenne Riedel. His brother, Marvis Ray Adams, his sister, Annis Merle Adams and his nephews, Mark Adams, Ray Adams and Michael King.

Funeral services 2PM Monday, March 26, 2012 at Evans Funeral Home with Ben Mays, Greg Cox and Grey Smith officiating. Interment in the Chapel Hill Cemetery with full military honors by Fort Rucker Honor Guard.
