Linda Ponti Aliverti, 95, of Walla Walla, died March 16, 2012 at the Odd Fellows Home.

Linda was born in April 13, 1916 to Guilio & Marie Moro Ponti in Walla Walla.

She married Frank Aliverti in 1933. They lived west of College Place and raised two children. Mr. Aliverti passed away in 1980. Linda was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. She farmed with her family, raising Walla Walla Sweet Onions as well as other vegetables. Linda nursed her husband who was on a kidney dialysis machine in the home for six years. She babysat her grandchildren and enjoyed shopping for them. Linda volunteered at the Walla Walla Senior Center for many years. Her family & her home were important to her.

She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Gene & JoAnn Aliverti, grandchildren & great grandchildren, Steve Aliverti & Tiffany; Melanie Aliverti, Aaron and Parker; Darrin & Dawn Aliverti, Megan and Carson; Barry Aliverti; Lance West, Sr., Lance Jr., and Clark; Lincoln & Michele West and Olivia. Also surviving are her sister, Louise Aliverti; brother, Ambrose Aliverti and numerous nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Frank; her daughter, Marilyn West in 2000; brother, John Ponti; and sisters, Madeline Talarico & Rose Pesciallo.

A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM on Friday, March 23, 2012 at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA with Sister Helen Mason officiating. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 24, 2012 at St. Francis Catholic Church with Father Patrick Kerst, Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Catholic Section of Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Walla Walla Catholic Schools or charity of donor’s choice through the funeral home.
