Marlon Winston Beam, age 69, of 5733 Ga Hwy 100, Tallapoosa, GA, passed away February 29, 2012. Mr. Beam was born December 21, 1942 in Tallapoosa to the late Winston Grady and Alma Lee Coggins Beam.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Erma Self, Erlene Jones, Eddie Hart, Betty Bentley and Vira Cole.
Marlon was a member of Providence Baptist Church. He served in the US Army and enjoyed Nascar racing and golf. His favorite quote that friends heard him say often, “It’s not the things in life that you achieve, it’s those you overcome”.
Marlon is survived by his wife, Amanda Beam of Tallapoosa; sons Paul Beam and Steve Beam both of Stone Mt; seven grandchildren; sisters, Patricia and Howard Cauthen, Rudene and Harold Nast all of Tallapoosa and Verna Long of Macon, GA.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 11AM from the Chapel of Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Self and Rev. Bill Brown officiating. Music will be provided by Carol Brown. Pallbearers will be Waddell Chaffin, Phillip Campbell, Barry Brooks, Ken Watson, Terry Gamel, Grant Jerkins, Alan Cauthen and David Nast. Honorary pallbearers will be his classmates from the Tallapoosa High School Class of 1961.
Interment will follow in Providence Church Cemetery.
Marlon's family will receive friends Friday evening, March 2, 2012, between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 PM.
