Rita Ann Carter of Conyers, GA passed away Saturday February 11, 2012 at her home, following a year-long battle with cancer. She loved and was loved by her family and friends. Her favorite past time was working in her yard and gardens which she filled with beautiful flowers and plants. She loved to share her gardening skills with her children, grandchildren and many friends. Rita spent many hours helping others through her activities in the Citizens of Georgia Power Charity organization and her church Zion Baptist.

Rita was born in Clinch County Georgia in February 1944 to the daughter of the late Mr. Clarence Edward Teston Sr. and the late Mrs. Mabel Bennett Teston. Rita is survived by her husband Wendell W. Carter; son and daughter-in-law Christopher and Alice Carter of Conyers, GA; daughter Andrea Wolverton of Thomaston, GA; daughter and son-in-law Laura and Duff Fleming of Conyers, GA, and five grandchildren. She leaves a brother Clarence Edward Teston Jr. of Homerville, GA and three sisters Margaret T. Lee of Manor, GA, Sara L. Griffis of Homerville, GA, Glenda T. Pope of Kirtland, NM.

An evening viewing and family visitation will be held on Friday February 17, 2012 at Wheeler Funeral Home in Covington, GA from 6:00-8:00PM. Pastor Reese Sanders will close the visitation with a brief memorial service and prayer. A memorial service will be held at 3:00PM on Saturday February 18, 2012 at Hart’s Mortuary at the Cupola 6324 Peake Rd. Macon GA with the family receiving friends from 2:00PM until service time. Interment will be at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery.
