Janet was born to Garland and Belle Taggart February 5, 1928 in Blue Ridge, MO. Her family moved to Bethany, MO where she grew up and attended school. In 1945 she met John H. Gotschall who would become her loving husband. They moved to Cleveland, OH where they became the proud parents of two daughters, Mary Lucinda and Marcia Lynette. After returning to Missouri to work on the family farm they were blessed with the arrival of their third daughter Deborah Jon who was born in Bethany, MO. In 1954 they moved to Gallatin where Janet and John H ran a department store and later a popular drive-in restaurant. During the years in Gallatin Janet was very involved in her children’s lives and activities. She was a member of the First Christian church where she sang in the choir. In 1971 as empty nesters they moved to Richmond, MO where Janet worked as a Pharmacy Technician.
In 1981 she lost her husband, the love of her life. In 1992 she moved to Gladstone, Mo to be near her daughters. As her health began to decline she moved in with her daughter Marcia. She continued to enjoy her 3 daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren and other family and friends.
Janet was a beautiful, fun loving and compassionate soul who devoted her life to her daughters and grandchildren. She was an avid reader, especially biographies, loved to dance and taught her girls to rock n roll. Although her loss is immense we are grateful for the love and joy she brought to our lives. Janet instilled the qualities of perseverance, loyalty, faithfulness and generosity in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John H. Gotschall, brothers, Gordon, Bud and Jack Taggart and sister Hildred Glaze.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters Cindy (Reid) Spencer, Gladstone, MO, Marcia Gotschall, Gladstone, MO, and Debby (Johnnie) Johnston, St. Charles, IA, granddaughters, Tina (Jason) Hoffman, Urbandale, IA, Amy (John) Butler, Chicago, IL; Great Grandsons, Noah and Jonah Hoffman, Urbandale, IA, and one great Grandchild soon to be.
