Virginia's journey on earth was completed on February 4, 2012. She was born on November 10, 1924 in Salt Lake City, UT to Charles William Prescott and Jennie Charlotte Lennstrom. She married her sweetheart, Glen William Armstrong, on August 2, 1947, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
Virginia was a perfectionist in all she did, including an accomplished seamstress and won numerous Blue Ribbons at the fair. She loved life, travel, and the Utah Jazz.
She wore the titles of Wife, Mother and Grandma "J" as her greatest accomplishments. she leaves behind a great legacy of service to her church and her family. She served in numerous callings in her Ward and Stake Primary and Relief Society Presidencies. She and Glen served a mission in the Washington, DC Temple.
Virginia was a friend to everyone and always willing to offer a helping hand. Her legacy of love and service lives on in her husband, children and grandchildren. Dad provided love, care, and support to Mom until her last moment on earth. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her family.
Virginia is survived by her husband and children; Marvin (Donna) Armstrong, Draper; Pat (Alan) Smart, Cottonwood Heights; Mark Armstrong, Holladay and Bonnie Armstrong, Kaysville. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and her sister Ilene Buckley. Preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
The viewing and funeral service will be held at the Ridgedale Ward (3400 South 1100 East). Viewing Tuesday, Feb. 7, 6:00-8:00 PM, and one hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Interment at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
