Reverend Raleigh Howell Allen, III

Celebration of Life service for Reverend Raleigh H. Allen, III, who passed away Thursday, January 26, 2012 will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 12 Noon at Greater Mount Zion A.M.E. Church, 1045 – 16th Street, South, St. Petersburg, Florida 33712; Bishop McKinley Young, Presiding Prelate; Reverend Jimmy Thompson, Presiding Elder; Reverend Clarence Williams, Pastor. Interment will follow in Royal Palm South Cemetery, St. Petersburg, Florida.

Reverend Raleigh H. Allen, III, the son of the late Dr. Raleigh H. Allen, Jr. of Tuskegee, Alabama and Mary Francis Allen of Tampa, Florida, was born in Aurora, Illinois, on August 11, 1951. He relocated to Tampa with his family as a youth and received his education at local Hillsborough County Schools. He attended the University of South Florida and received a Bachelor of Divinity from Faith Grant College. He was in the process of completing his Masters of Theology at Trinity University.

Raleigh served in the United States Navy and was in the Vietnam War. Raleigh met Juneartta (June) Bannister in 1971 and the two were married in 1978. From this union were two children, Raleigh IV and Martina. Raleigh was employed at St. Petersburg College for over twenty-two years. In his current role he served as Information Technology Supervisor.

Raleigh accepted the Lord Jesus as his personal Savior at an early age and was called to the Ministry in 1995. He served as Pastor to Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church, Rubonia; First Mt. Carmel A.M.E. Church, Tampa and Mt, Olive (Bealsville Community), Plant City. Raleigh kept his personal unshakable relationship with the Lord until he was called to his Heavenly home.

He leaves to cherish memories of him: a loving wife, Juneartta Allen; devoted children, Raleigh H. Allen, IV (Tia) and Martina S. Allen; grandchildren, Raleigh H. Allen, V and McKenzie M. Allen; mother, Mary Francis Wilson Allen; sisters, Sandra Kelley (Prince), Hollianne Wright and Renee Allen; nieces and nephews, Prinsan Kelley, Adrienne Bell (Ronald), Terrence Nelson, Cheri Faison-Moore, Francene Faison, Patrick Bannister, Amesha Holsey (Anthony), Jamar Bannister, Sedarain Kendrick, Amber Bannister-Akins, David Jones and Minnie Allen; mother-in-law, Mae Bannister; sisters-in-law, Dawn C. Bannister and Verena Kendrick; brother-in-law, Ferdinand B. Bannister (Ellie); a host of grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins and countless other relatives and friends.

There will be a wake from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church, 1902 W. LaSalle Street – Tampa, Florida 33607.
