Octa Cottingame Kyle, 94, a long-time resident of Itasca, Texas, died peacefully on Saturday, January 8, 2012. She was born to the late William Carl Cottingame and Pearl Deatherage Cottingame on August 24, 1917, near Frost, Texas, in Ellis County. She and her family moved to Itasca while she was a young girl, and she graduated from Itasca High School in 1934. She married Hoyt David Kyle on September 27, 1937, and they remained married until his death in 1985. She was preceded in death by her brother, W.C. Cottingame, of Grandview, Texas; and by her beloved children, Carolyn Frances Goez of Forth Worth, Texas, and Robert Carl Kyle of Dallas, Texas.
Mrs. Kyle was a life-long member of the Itasca Church of Christ. In 1971, she and her husband purchased the Itasca Floral and Gift Shop, which they operated for 11 years. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and sewing throughout her life. She also loved to travel and to spend time with family and friends.
She leaves behind her daughter, Marjorie Kyle Bessire of Carrollton, Texas; eight grandchildren and their spouses: Catherine Kyle, Lisa Kyle, Rebecca Kyle Joseph, Rachael Kyle Salinas, Meg Kyle Tyler, Robert Kyle, Jr., Meredith Goez Flores, and Heath Bessire; and nine great-grandchildren, who brought her much joy.
Visitation: Sunday, January 8th from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
Service: Monday, January 9th at 2PM at the funeral home chapel with burial following at the Itasca cemetery.
