Willie Levern Clayton, age 71, of Ovid, passed away Wednesday, December 21st, 2011 at Ovid Healthcare Center. Cremation has taken place. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2 PM to 4PM on Wednesday, December 28th at his residence, 6191 Krouse Road, Ovid. Pastor Chris Higgins, First Church of Christ, will officiate the memorial service at 3:30 PM that afternoon.
Willie was born in Marked Tree, Arkansas on October 15, 1940, the son of the late William and Mary (Camp) Clayton. Willie was a long time resident of Lansing and had worked at Federal Drop Forge and later Lansing Drop Forge. He greatly enjoyed music and played both the guitar and the bass. As a younger man, he had his own band -"Will Clayton and the Countrymen."
Those who cherish his memory include: sister, Theresa and husband Jody Frasher of Ovid; nephews, Creg Clayton of Lansing, Jacob Frasher of Ovid, Lee Clayton of Hayti, Missouri and Michael Wright of Memphis, Tennessee; and several other family members in the Lansing area.
