Wilbur Bentley, 89 of Texarkana, Texas, died Wednesday November 16, 2011. He was born October 17, 1922 in Hugo, Oklahoma to William and Grace Bentley.
Wilbur was a twin and his sister, Wilma (Boots) Nelson died in 1962 at the age 40. His parents, sisters and a son, John Bentley, preceded him in death.
Wilbur was retired from Red River Army Depot, was a member of the Highland Park Baptist Church and was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during WW II.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Ruth Bentley of Texarkana; one daughter, Janet Bentley of Magnolia, Texas; five grandchildren, Lori Wright of Houston, Texas, Sarah Buchanan of Magnolia, Texas, Travis Buchanan of Livingston, Texas, Elizabeth Taylor of Deer Park, Texas and Erin Bentley of Eagan, Minnesota; seven great grandchildren, Ashley Wright, Taylor Wright, Alexis Wright, Christian Sheffield, Easton Thomas Murphy, Emmie Taylor and Cheryl Flores; nieces and nephews, Judy Nelson Mossier, Debbie Nelson, Garlon (Bubba) Nelson, Shelby Jackson, Angela Beaty, Marzee Hughes, Joe Beaty Jr. and Edward Jones.
Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at the Chapelwood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kevin Myers officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. Friday evening at Chapelwood Funeral Home.
