Jacqueline Welsh Barr

Jacqueline Welsh Barr died on November 9, 2011, at Holy Cross Hospital in Ft. Lauderdale. She was 77.

Born in Webster Grove, MO, Mrs. Barr graduated from Mary Institute in Ladue, MO. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, NY, in 1955. She married, John O. Barr of River Forest, IL, on November 5, 1955.

A 35-year resident of River Forest, Mrs. Barr was an active member of the River Forest Presbyterian Church, the Oak Park River Forest Infant Welfare Society, and the River Forest Tennis Club. She was pre-deceased by her husband Jack in 1989. Mrs. Barr lived in Hyannisport, MA, from 1990 through 1997. After moving to Florida, Mrs. Barr joined the First Presbyterian Church of Ft. Lauderdale and The Tennis Club of Ft. Lauderdale.

Surviving her are her son John O. Barr, and his wife Caroline, of Ridgewood, NJ, her daughter Jeanne B. Sullivan of Largo, FL, her son, James W. Barr, and his wife Kathy of Redmond, WA, her eight grandchildren, Melissa, Emily and Hilary Barr, Patrick, Jacqueline and Christopher Sullivan, and Theresa and James Barr.and her brother, A. David Welsh, and his wife Kathy of Ft. Myers, FL.

A memorial service of celebration will be held at 2:30 pm on December 29, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church of Ft. Lauderdale. A burial service will be held on June 30, 2012 at Spring Lake Cemetery in Aurora, IL. Donations in her memory may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, 401 SE 15th Avenue, Ft. Lauderdale 33301 or the OPRF Infant Welfare Society, The Children's Clinic, 320 Lake Street, Oak Park, IL 60302.
