Roland A. Before

U.S. Veteran

Roland A. Before, 88, formerly of Derby, VT passed away on November 3,2011 at the Veterans Home in Bennington, VT. He was born on December 8, 1922 in Derby, VT a son of Edmund and Lumina (Labonte) Before. He joined the U.S. Army in the mid 40’s and returned home to work for his father for over 30 years and he was also a painter for about the same amount of time in both Florida and Washington state. In his later years he enjoyed driving to Washington in the summer to visit two of his sisters, and stopped off in the fall and then continue on to Florida to spend the winter with family there. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 798 of Newport. Roland is survived by his brother Henry Before and his wife Marilyn of Montana, Vincent Before and his wife Joyce of West Burke, VT, his sisters: Cecile Lebeau of Newport, Theresa Cox and her husband Jim and Carmen Harter both of Spokane, Washington, Rita Riley of Florida and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Josephine and by an infant sister. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday November 10,2011 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Newport. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Should friends desire, contributions in his memory may be made to the Activities Fund, Bel-Aire Nursing Home, 35 Bel-Aire Drive, Newport, VT 05855.
