New London, NH - Dorothy "Dotty" C. Ambrose, 62, of South Pleasant Street, died Sunday, October 23, 2011 at her home, surrounded by her family, after after a brave struggle with pancreatic cancer.
She was born in Melrose, MA on December 5, 1948 the daughter of Matthew and Dorothy (Chetwynd) Connors. Dotty graduated from Melrose High School in 1966 and received a BA in Social Work from UNH in 1972. Dottie moved to New London in 1986 with her husband Paul, where she raised her two children, Zachary and Rachel. She dedicated her life and career to the service of others through her community and caregiving work. Most recently she had worked as a caregiver at Armistead Services and Kendal At Hanover.
Dottie loved the outdoors, traveling and spending time with her children and family. She will be remembered for her devotion to her children, her wonderful sense of humor, and her positive, upbeat spirit.
Surviving members of her family include her son, Zachary J. Ambrose, 30, and her daughter, Rachel L. Ambrose, 24, both of New London, NH. In addition, she is survived by her five sisters: Diane, Patricia, Beatrice, Maureen and Kathy. Friends may call at the Chadwick Funeral Home, 235 Main Street, New London, NH on Sunday, October 30, 2011 from 4 -7PM.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 1st at The First Baptist Church of New London at 1 PM. Burial will be in Old Main Street Cemetery, New London.
