David A. Blair, 55, of Kalkaska, formerly of River Rouge, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at Munson Medical Center. He was born on September 1, 1955 in Trenton to the late Ermon T. and Barbara C. (Laginess) Blair.
David proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army from April 1974 to April 1977 in Fort Knox, Kentucky. Also, he served in the Army Reserves in the 182nd Transportation Center out of Traverse City and in the 301st Military Police in Inkster. In addition, he served in the past as the River Rouge City Commissioner. David married the former Deborah K. Hamilton on September 7, 1974 in River Rouge. He enjoyed hunting and living away from the city.
David is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Debbie; son, David Allen (Kari) Blair II of Mancelona; daughter, Carrie Lynne (Timothy) Weighman of Kalkaska; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Blair; sister, Christine (Paul) Strasser of River Rouge; brother, Andrew Blair of River Rouge; sisters, Dianne Gail (Joseph) Swisher of River Rouge, Theresa Lynn (Clinton) Jenkins of Weaverville, NC, Wendy (Chris) Payne of Wyandotte; and nine grandchildren.
David was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Paul William Blair.
A memorial service in David's honor will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Blair residence, 5456 Rogers Road NE, Kalkaska.
