Mrs. Mamie Lou Downs Anderson, age 83, a resident of King, Arkansas, died Thursday, June 9th in the Brookwood Nursing and Rehab, De Queen.
She was born to Milton M. and Demma Lou Stubbs Downs at Hope, Arkansas, on October 3, 1927. She graduated from Gillham High School in 1948. She was the last Post Office Mistress at the King Post Office, as well as a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gillham, and worked for many years with the Election Commission. She enjoyed gardening, canning, reading, and visiting with friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and in 2010, her husband, Erwin Crawford Anderson.
She is survived by two sons, Roger Dale Corley of Foreman, and Richard Erwin Anderson of Prescott, Arkansas; a daughter, Joyce Ann Lipsey of De Queen, three grandchildren and their spouses, Matthew Erwin and Cari Corley of Foreman, Amber Michelle and Brandon Cole, and Rachel Ellen Lipsey of De Queen, four great-grandchildren, Jarred Cole, Cullyn Corley, Lacey Corley, and Kelly Corley, and a special friend, Mary Lewis of Gillham.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Mamie Anderson will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 11th in the Philadelphia Cemetery, with Rev. Bob McManus, Rev. Audie Dawson, and Rev. Ray Reynolds officiating.
The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Friday, June 10th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
