Homegoing celebration for Ms. Joyce Ann Baker of Tampa will be held Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at New Salem Primitive Baptist Church, 1605 N. Nebraska Avenue, Tampa, FL with the pastor Elder Theodis Lane, officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, Tampa, FL.

Ms. Joyce Ann Baker, affectionately known as “JB” to many and “Stank” to others was born February 5, 1958 to the union of James and Susan (Mickles) Baker passed away Thursday, June 2, 2011. Joyce was educated in the public schools of Hillsborough County.

Joyce was preceded in death by her mother and father, James and Susan (Mickles) Baker; grandparents, William and Ethel (Robinson) Mickles; aunt, Ethel (Ms. Sweet) Mickles DeVard; uncles, Henry and Gortell Mickles; cousins, Lillie Mae (Mickles) Stewart and Wendy (Corvette) Walker.

She leaves to cherish memories of her: 4 children, Amarcus Lamar Brooks, Princess Diana (James Graves) Baker; Jaime E. (Charese Bryant) Baker and Polo Marie Baker (Herman Colbert); 9 grandchildren, Amariell L. Brooks, Amarcus L. Brooks, Jr., Mikhirra A. Eagan, Harmon Colbert, Jr., Monaya A. Baker, Verniyah Colbert, Amarion Brooks, Jamiya Baker and Jaliyah Graves; 1 brother, Prince H. Baker; 1 aunt, Yvonne Mickles; many first cousins, Shirley (Leonard) Bruce, Doris DeVard, Debera T. DeVard, Carolyn, Rhonda, Carolyn and Gortianette Mickles; other cousins left to cherish memories, LoWanda Newton (Willie Hamilton), Ronald Brown, Ronald (Louise) Anderson, Antoinette (Robert) Dixon, Eric Brown, Akia (Theadous) Royal, Adilah Kennard, Gerald, Terry and husband, Eula Mae, Tommy, Robin, Tracy, Barry, Wendy, Marshall, Colette, Howard, Essie Mae Reed, Shelia (Robert) Palmore and Herbertha Williams; godchild, Norvis Helfin; generations of cousins in Tampa and Gainesville, FL; Harlem, NY; extended family, Linda, Barbara, Mink and Speedy Jenkins; stepchildren, Hattie Maria Gonzales and Evelyn Buchanan; best friend, Eldred Hardy; near and close to the heart, D.A. (The Boss) and the Central Park and Tampa Park families. This list could go on and on, so if there is anyone we, the family have omitted, please charge it to the head and not the heart, we will always keep you dear and never forget.

Her remains will repose from 5:00 – 9:00 P.M. Friday, June 10, 2011 at Wilson Funeral Home, 3000 N. 29th Street, Tampa, FL 33605.
