William E. “Jake” Archambault, 85, of Framingham passed away on February 13th after a brief illness.
Born in Palmer, MA on Dec. 12, 1925, Jake was in the presence of loved ones when he passed peacefully at St. Patrick’s Manor.
As a boy, he moved to Springfield, VT where he attended high school, then joined the Marine Corps on his 17th birthday. He served as a gunnery sergeant in the Pacific during World War II and continued his service in the Marines for three more years from 1946-1949 in China.
Returning to the States in 1949, he then attended Saint Michael’s College in Winooski, VT until his graduation in 1953.
Jake married Lorraine Gosselin on June 7, 1952. They had met in Springfield, VT two years earlier and were married for more than 58 years. They spent over 40 of their married years raising a family in Framingham.
Mr. Archambault spent most of his career in electronics and radar and missile defense systems working for Raytheon and GTE Corps.
He was a proud member of the Framingham Knights of Columbus and a fourth degree knight.
He retired in 1993 and he and Lorraine spent their retirement years in York, Maine and South Florida.
Besides his wife Lorraine, Mr. Archambault is survived by his children Thomas of Ft. Lauderdale, Mary Beth and her husband Jeffrey Crastnopol of Ft. Lauderdale, Lynn Featherstone of Framingham, Mark and his wife Maureen of Ashland, Glenn of Venice, FL and a daughter-in-law, Debbie Archambault of Goffstown, NH.
He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Jacqueline, Danette, Alyssa, Stephen, Kristin and Nicole Archambault, Christina, Elaina and Mark Featherstone, Sarah, Rebecca and Rachel Crastnopol; great-granddaughter Haley Delude; his siblings; Lillian Farkes and her husband William of Fullerton, CA, grace Pickett and her husband Edward of Owensboro, KY, Raymond archambault and his wife Donna Sullivan of West Bridgewater, MA and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours at the Norton Funeral Home, (www.nortonfuneralhome.com) 53 Beech St., Framingham will be Thursday from 5 – 8- PM.
A time of visitation in the Chapel of St. Patrick’s Manor, 863 Central St., Framingham will be held on Friday from 9:30 – 10:15 AM followed by his funeral Mass at 10:30 AM.
