Rose Ann Austin

Rose Ann Austin, age 81, passed away peacefully at home after a long illness early Sunday morning on January 16, 2011 in South Bend, Indiana.

Rose retired from RACO Manufacturing after 30 years. She was born September 16, 1929 in Brownsville, Tennessee to the union of Sarah K. (Blue) and George W. Hill. She lived most of her life in South Bend after moving from Brownsville at an early age.

Rose was baptized at Grace Methodist Church and attended Central High School. She enjoyed reading, visiting with her family and supporting her family's educational pursuits as she continued to encourage everyone to take advantage of opportunities that were limited for her during her youth.

Surviving her are a daughter, Janice M. Malone of South Bend, Indiana; a son and daughter-in-law, Leamon Bruce and Anna Austin of Grayslake, Illinois; a son, Kent Allison of Indianapolis, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Chad A. Austin, Marcus C. Austin (Kathy) and Quinn A. Austin (Samatha) of Bismarck, North Dakota, Ryan A. Malone, of South Bend, Indiana, Janelle D. Allison and Alicia A. Allison of Indianapolis, Indiana, Sean E. Austin of Grayslake, Illinois; seven great grandchildren, Jaden T. Powell, Jacob T. Powell and Marvin Germany III, of Indianapolis, Indiana, Zoie Austin, Andre Austin, Ava Austin and Khaliq Austin of Bismarck, North Dakota. Also surviving are sisters, Josie Thompson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Patricia Washington of Flint, Michigan and Betty Childress of South Bend, Indiana; two brothers, George W. Hill Jr. (Rozelia) and Donald Hill of South Bend, Indiana.

Preceding her in death were her parents, George and Sarah K. (Blue); a brother, Robert Hill, sisters Verneal Leonard and Evelyn Childress of South Bend, Indiana.

Rose's children are honoring her wishes for no visitation services or funeral services to be held. Clark-O’Neal Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
