This past year our cemetery has made major expansions to their grounds. In early 2009 we completed our new Garden of Resurrection Mausoleum. This mausoleum has 277 crypt spaces and 180 niche spaces. They are available in both double and individual spaces. We have also added a meditation garden between our new and existing mausoleum for families wishing to spend more time in the cemetery. The mausoleum also is lighted at night.
We have opened a new ground burial section called the Garden of Faith. This section has available an additional 650 burial spaces. In addition, we have included in this section ‘Family Estates’. This feature gives the family 5 grave spaces in a row at the best location.
We have expanded Garden of Devotion by adding 228 granite enclosure burial spaces. This area has larger lots designed to accommodate families that want a more traditional burial space. In this area, we also have new lots located on the concrete walkway. These lots are the most desirable and usually are the first to be sold.
Our Garden of Angels section also has an additional 180 spaces. This section is specifically set aside for infant burials.
Established on February 3, 1988, Evangeline Memorial Gardens is a perpetual care cemetery. The cemetery offers mausoleum spaces, mausoleum niches, granite enclosures, ground burials and two cremation sections, one for scattering and one for burial of cremains. The roadways are paved and have underground drainage. Water is provided throughout the cemetery. Individual flowerbeds are maintained with seasonal plantings. The cemetery and the mausoleum are both lighted at night.
With Melancon Funeral Home located at the entrance to the cemetery, we can offer the convenience of having all your funeral services at one location, eliminating the inconvenience of driving to the cemetery. Additionally, this eliminates the cost of a hearse and limousines.
