Welcome

Welcome Image

As I look back on 30 years in the funeral profession, I realize that I didn’t become really good at my job until I had experienced first hand my own significant loss. That loss occurred 11 years ago. The man was my father, Jesse Herman Humphrey, he was my business partner, teacher and friend. He had invested 56 years in the profession and he never grew tired of it. Only after that loss did I throw out all of the policies, practices, even beliefs that I was certain I knew and understood about my profession. Yes, I threw them all out and began looking at each funeral as a unique opportunity to honor and celebrate the gift of life. It is my belief that each life is a unique gift from our Creator. This drives my basic understanding of funeral service, and that new understanding came out of my own father’s death. After that, everything was new. My staff and I began asking our families what was meaningful to them and we began measuring our success through family follow-up surveys. Consumer information, understanding, and preference is at an all time high in our country, and industry. If we are to survive, we must acknowledge and act upon the very unique needs of each individual family and service. This, in my opinion, will be the key not only to survival, but growth in this era. I am very proud of the contribution that my staff are making to our community and it is a pleasure for us to share a portion of the many service activities in which we enjoy participating and providing.
