Russell is a native of the Houston area, graduating from Houston High School in 1996. He began working at Evans Funeral Home in 2006. He attended the distance learning program at Arapahoe Community College in Littleton Colorado and graduated with honors in 2008 with a degree in Mortuary Science.

Russell married Abby Campbell in 2001 and they have one son, Kaden, who was born in 2006.

Russell was elected to the Texas County Soil and Water Conservation Board in 2012, and to the Texas County Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees in 2013.  He also serves as the treasurer for the Texas County Fair Board.  He and his family attend Ellis Prairie Baptist Church. In his spare time he enjoys hunting, fishing and farming.

Russell enjoys living in, and serving the people of his hometown and the surrounding communities.
