The Unknown Soldier Monument in New Douglas Cemetery, New Douglas, Illinois.

The Dedication Ceremony for the Unknown Soldier Monument in New Douglas Cemetery took place on Friday, November 11, 2011 at 1:00 PM.

The Ceremony was a great success with just over 100 people in attendance.  We would like to thank all of those who were there from the community, the veterans organizations, and our family.  We continue to thank those who contributed to the monument project.

We would like to acknowledge our contributor's to the Unknown Soldier Monument since its dedication on 11/11/11...they are the following:

Our most recent contribution in March of 2013 was from Helen Thiems and Family. Previous contributions were made by Jeff & Donna Lesicko, New Douglas, IL and on Veterans Day, November 11, 2012 from Helen Thiems and Family in Memory of Gilbert Thiems who was born on November 20, 1928 and passed from this life to the next on May 31, 2011.

The Unknown Soldier Monument in New Douglas Cemetery can be visited by entering the south entrance of the cemetery, proceding east to the utility shed near the center of the cemetery, the Unknown Soldier Monument is located approximately 75 feet south of the shed.

as of Friday, November 11, 2011...
The vision has become reality with the successful Dedication Ceremony for the Unknown Soldier Monument in New Douglas Cemetery. Thank you to all those who attended, all the contributors to the Monument Project through the Clara Lesicko Memorial Fund, and the Veterans Organizations who attended and participated.

as of Wednesday, November 2, 2011...
The Rushmore Mahogany Granite Turned Vase has been installed.  The complete installation of the Unknown Soldier Monument in New Douglas Cemetery has been achieved.

as of Monday, October 24, 2011...
The monument has been installed and is awaiting final installation of a Dakota Rushmore Mahogany Granite Turned Vase.


as of Thursday, October 13, 2011...
The Rushmore Mahogany Granite Monument has arrived from Dakota Granite, Milbank SD.  The delivery was made to Carlinville Monument Company on October 13, 2011 where the design work and lettering are in progress.


as of Tuesday, September 20, 2011...
Foundation work for the Unknown Soldier Monument in New Douglas Cemetery has been completed with the help of Dan Robertson, Tom Harmon, and Nick Seley.  Concrete for the project was provided by RED-E-MIX, LLC.


as of Sunday, August 8, 2010...
Memorials in memory of Clara Lesicko, who passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 are directed to the Unknown Soldier Monument in New Douglas Cemetery.

 
All of the elements that were necessary for the dedication of this very important monument project were coordinated with the help of the Village of New Douglas, New Douglas Cemetery, Veterans Groups, and many other interested parties.


We thank you all for your contributions through Mom's memorial fund, for this effort.
