M arion Nelson Funeral Home, family owned and operated for four generations, was established in 1951. This family tradition began when Jack Stephenson married Ruth Nelson and started the funeral home business with her son, Marion H. Nelson.

Marion and Helen Nelson were married and have been actively involved in the business until Marion's death in 1991. Mrs. Nelson continues to be an active part of the business.

The couple's sons have kept the legacy going. Barrett Nelson is the Funeral Director in charge of the funeral home in Lake Wales and Frostproof. Chris Nelson is the Funeral Director in charge of Stephenson - Nelson Funeral Home in Avon Park and Sebring. Dr. Jim Nelson was in the business until 1972 when he decided to become a doctor, and now has a medical practice.
