In 1933, Jose Nieto established Nieto Funeral Home to serve the working families of Laredo.
In 1968, Fred Dickey began his part-time work for Nieto Funeral Home. His duties were to assist at visitations and funeral services. It was then that he decided to pursue a career in this sensitive and caring industry. Fred's purpose was to provide the kind of service, beauty and dignity to working class families that had previously only been available to the wealthy and privileged few, through the more expensive funeral firms in town. Today, Nieto Dickey Funeral Home continues to expand facilities in order to better serve the thousands of Laredo families that visit us in our original site at IH-35 and Coke Street.
In 1991, still dedicated to his purpose, Fred Dickey purchased Nieto Funeral Home from Jose Nieto's grandson and continued on the journey that is reflected today in our mission statement.
We work diligently to honor our public servants. Any law enforcement officer or firefighter who are lost in the line of duty, will receive traditional funeral services without cost to their loved ones.
Nieto Dickey also provides special consideration to members of unions and public servants (Municipal, County, State, Federal, or School Employees).
