Henry Funeral Home, Inc., was chartered in December of 1946 under the leadership of Fred N. Henry, who unfortunately died before the business got underway. The remaining members of the corporation decided to proceed with the project, and the funeral home at 507 West Beverley Street in Staunton opened on May 1, 1947, with J. Earl Zimmerman as manager. Mrs. Henry continued to help run the business until her death in 1974.
Outgrowing the original location, a new Henry Funeral Home, Inc., located at 1030 West Beverley Street in Staunton, opened it's doors in July of 1974. The colonial building, containing approximately 14,500 square feet of same level floor space, was under construction for more than a year. The plans were finalized by T. J. Collins and Son, Architects, and the principal contractor was Clem and Company. The parking lot will accomodate 130 vehicles, and the chapel will seat 250 people.
